What is CBT?

CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Cognitive Therapy) is a focused, short-term, and goal oriented psychotherapy that is a helpful remedy for a wide range of life problems.

CBT is based on a theoretical model that suggests that your thoughts, your feelings, and your behaviors influence one another.  CBT focuses on how the way you think, the way you act, and the way you communicate in the present moment affects your entire life.  It is different from other forms of psychotherapy that focus more on your early childhood experiences.
